Thorsten holds a Diploma in Physics and a PhD in Physics, both from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany. He developed, together with Robert Bardos, the core technology behind BT Imaging. From 2001 to 2003 he held a Feodor Lynen postdoctoral scholarship from the Alexander von Humboldt foundation for research at the Centre for Third Generation Photovoltaics, University of NSW. In 2004 he was appointed Associate Professor and in 2007 Deputy Director at the Centre of Excellence for Advanced Silicon Photovoltaics and Photonics at the University of NSW. He has published 40 scientific journal papers and more than 50 conference papers in the areas of characterisation of photovoltaic devices, light emission from silicon and third generation photovoltaics.
